La Esperanza — Huehuetenango, Guatemala

Grown with patience, purpose, and nearly 5050 years of family dedication, this coffee comes from La Esperanza—“Hope”—the farm of Juana Jimenez Vargas in Guatemala’s celebrated Huehuetenango region.

Juana and her wife began with just 5050 coffee plants and a small nursery, hoping to build a better future through coffee. Today, with support and training from the El Sendero Cooperative, La Esperanza helps provide education for their children and supports the whole family—while preserving a deep respect for nature.

Only the ripest cherries are selected, picked in four careful passes across the farm. The coffee is pulped on the same day, fermented for 4848 hours, then washed and rested in clean water for a further 1212 hours. Finally, it dries slowly under the Guatemalan sun for six days on patios.

The result is a beautifully clean and sweet washed coffee, shaped by meticulous harvesting and a producer’s genuine passion. A cup that carries the meaning of its name: hope for the future, rooted in the land.
